Lopaphus sp"Cuc Phuong"

Post by Salt on Wed Sep 09, 2015 3:03 pm

9th of September
I obtained the ova in May, about four months ago. The first one hatched this morning and I must say that it is absolutely tiny, about 14mm in length and very thin. As a young nymph these guys are a shiny-olive-green colour and become brown with white spots at about the 3rd instar. Adult males are absolutely stunning and will be blue and yellow. Here is a picture of the nymph:

The nymph has become a darker green, meaning it has began to eat. No more nymphs have hatched so far, hope more will hatch soon!

That's cool that they change colour when they start feeding I never knew that.

A few days ago the nymph has moulted into the 2nd instant. A few colour changes and a nice size increase have  been observed as a result, pictures and more information will hopefully be up tomorrow!

Yes they do, very hard to spot these guys sometimes haha!
2nd October
Yesterday one more nymph has hatched along with two more this morning, bringing the total to 4. I must say, the three young nymphs look tiny compared to the two week old one, these guys certainly grow very quickly.

3rd of October
The fifth nymph has hatched this morning, however I almost missed it when spraying the ova. I have to count the number of operculums found away from eggs to see if any new nymphs hatched as the nymphs are too hard to see sometimes.
