Few Pictures

Post by dermy on Thu Aug 06, 2015 4:18 pm

So obviously no nests for me this year [I got to them too late] but here are a few wasp pictures I thought I'd share:
D. maculata with Prey [fly]

Different Worker with prey

Vespula pensylvanica

I know not the best pictures in the world. More to come I also need to take a few pictures of some nests [Including a very large Maculata nest in my back alley!]

Have you thought about keeping solitary wasps?

No their needs are pretty hard to meet for certain species and no-one has found a way to keep them as far as I know.

I heard of cockroach wasps being sold at some shows, I think solitary wasps would be really nice to keep if their care can be figured out.

Yeah, since it's only one wasp your dealing with. Free-ranging colonies is really cool.
