The heads on those majors are pretty big Shocked. The majors being smaller may be due to not enough food, maybe feed them a bit more?

I think it might be time to feed them something just a tad bigger then a fruit fly. See how they react to it. I think they may need a bit more protein. This is the part where they really start to explode with Population.

New video guys. I don't think you can really appreciate how much brood there is until you see majors/workers climbing up the pile to reach their Queen. I'm sure a number of things have contributed to their success so far; heat, frequently being fed and the GroTube. I removed the lid to be able to hydrate the main chamber to their liking Very Happy

Wow that Colony sure has been growing, and looks to be at the point of no return. Get ready I think from here on out as long as you feed them and water them they are just going to keep on Growing and Growing Very Happy

Hi Salt and Dermy. The colony now is about 150-200 strong and will be entering hibernation soon. I'm going to move them into another formicarium before they do though.

Unfortunately Laughing They'll be going into hibernation around November, to follow their natural patterns. Feeding day today.

That's okay, I've heard they need [usually] 3 Months so I'm hopeful in those 3 Months I can at least catch up somewhat!

Just checked on these girls before bed and they're all in the nest; they rushed to hide the Larvae from view, but there's so many that it looks like Blue is surfing on a wave of brood Smile Laughing

Nothing really to report at the moment Dermy. They're still in hibernation in the cold room. Won't start getting active till the start of March I think:)
