he does look healthy I was a bit concerned around his head when he pulls back and does the whole S shape his neck looks boney and malnourished I was told because hes young he still has extra skin to grow into so im not as concerned anymore!!! when he is in his cage he doesn't come out just his head sticks out but once he is out of his cage very active loves exploring!!1

he is I had no problems with other people picking him up or anything only thing is he eats live and live only .....not really healthy since mice carry lots of parasites and such but ii cant force him to eat frozen I tried the whole freshlykilled and right after thawed mice but he wasn't interested at all

Re: Pythonidae Regius

Post by SpiderSam on Tue Jun 16, 2015 2:20 pm

No snake bites and no T bites yet xD the only thing chewy does that all snakes do is "yawn and/or burp" really just relocking his jaw Very Happy I like to say he burps cuz he does it right after a nice meal. I caught him drinking still trying to figure out if he licks it up like a dog or breaths it it by sucking or is it going up his nostrils cuz he dips the tip of head in.... and when ur holding him and cup ur hand and pet him near his head his tail will start wagging xD but either than that he just sits in his hide ......

and for the new areas reptiles is my area xD I plan on getting chemeleons, geckos, snakes I like all reptiles xD

as for alex I think hes becoming more interested in the arachnids bleh xD

Hey does anyone know like really good substrate to use for a ball python? chewy looks like hes in some sort of soft cardboard till its wet then it turns into dirt (I have no clue what it is if u do please mention that) im thinking aspen bedding but wouldn't the wood slices hurt him like give him a sliver? xD that sounded pretty dumb xD

That is a weird bedding, I'm not 100% sure what kind is the best, I know that some use coco-fiber but I don't know if it works for snakes or not.

No dumb questions Smile I think the cardboard that turn to dirt is cargoes maybe? I use aspen with my males and not had a problem yet. If you plan on breeding snakes you should remove it before breeding starts, people have had them get infected hemipenes. You can use kitchen roll, news paper, unprinted paper I think it's called butcher paper over there. You can use eco earth too.

I don't think you have to breed them to use eco-earth, but I'm not sure.

Re: Pythonidae Regius

Post by SpiderSam on Wed Jun 17, 2015 11:43 am

Anyways heres more pictures of chewy xD hes literally my love of my life

For those who may or may not call me crazy for having chewy around my neck and arm please just read...

1 if im uncomfortable with what he is doing I simply correct him by grabbing him and moving him or by slightly putting my hand in his face to make him move himself

2 he doesn't coil (so far no problems at least) as u can tell with my arm he more Loops to the side and continues doesn't go fully around my arm!

3 when he is around my neck I put my hand near his tail so he can grab onto it and feel safe that way he doesn't have to hook around his body Smile

I AM ALWAYS being CAUTIONS AND I KNOW WhaT SIGNS TO LOOK FOR!!! I do not recommend holding your snake unless 3 things .... 1 its been held and is calm 2 your comfortable at picking it up and 3 the day after he is feed and not 2 days before that way you know he is fed and not hungry !!!!

Hey I wonder if u can interbreed the Columbian and the Brazilian if so I really want to try that out..... but they are too different species and not colour morphs like ball pythons so not sure if that would work.... that's like taking a king cobra and breeding with a tree cobra xD or something .....
