Ah okay.

I found a few queen Myrmica, but I don't know if that counts as a Nuptial Flight. It was around 6 over the span of my sidewalk.

Camponatus herculeanus flew a bit yesterday, not a huge flight, only got 10-15 queens. I expect them to really fly when it rains.

You are so lucky so have them where you live!

Re: Ant Mating Flights 2015

I wish they would have had a bigger flight, maybe after a rain, because I want to try to video them, but it's hard when it's just one dropping here and there [of course they choose the busiest day when there was actually people out!] The birds were mean and getting some too, and I found one that must have been predated on because it lost some legs and it's antenna were off. I fed that one to my Salamander [I doubt it would have lived, so at least it had some use]

Side-Note: May Flies were also out.

I've been told to keep my eyes peeled because that was just a Pre-Flight.

Wonder how much difference there is across the board, obviously they don't fly all at the same time everywhere.

August 8/2015
Lasius neoniger flew
Formica sp. Flew

I also found what i assume to be a Parasitic Formica queen and two parasitic Lasius queens.

Temp: 21C Hot and lots of humidity, it just rained for 2 days including the morning that these flights took place!

There was a parasitic Lasius (might be umbratus?) flight yesterday in Poland I believe, I saw various male alates in the sea and a wingless queen on the sand yesterday.

Our times are so messed up this year. Formica should have flown in July not August and Lasius neoniger in September sometime.
