SpiderSams Mealworm Colony

Post by SpiderSam on Sat Mar 28, 2015 6:29 pm

So the first time I saw my mealworms they were this big

Then about a month after they were still small

Today on March 28th (about a month after last pic)
on the left side I put my biggest one (I found) and my smaller one(I found) together

And the Right side I managed to find a group of all sizes

Its ur metal man... xD I think I know why they are taking so long to grow ....this house gets super cold probably stunted their growth a few times because now that it hotter they are getting bigger I cant wait to find some pupas I got about 5 beetles since I got them still(that was in January) im surprised they haven't died from old age yet xD

no pupae I checked for little aliens I spent a good amount of time....so I got about 25 mealworms in January and I feed some to cinnamon so lets say about 15 beetles were left I got ABOUT (not including the ones that fell through the screen or the ones where the beetles were) 20-25 new mealworms so id say that's a plus Very Happy

These were just the ones I managed to catch before they fell through

These are all of them in their new home

Yes indeed im pretty exicted because this is still my first batch xD.....when I was cleaning that out I found a huge mealworm in with the beetles was born and raised with them so im thinking of just separating the pupae (they can fight back if anything does decide to eat it)

Well I added my beetles to my mealworms and hopefully they help each other out in their own "ecosystem" cuz if my beetles kill my mealies im torching them xD
