Unfortunately regular worms don't do well in bins. They are what are referred to as deep burrowing worms where-as red wigglers are "surface" worms. That's why you can't compost with regular worms. That and regular worms don't seem to like each-other and get stressed out.

They are but they seem to need a deeper bin, but they are easy to raise too, They just get Bigger and take a few extra weeks to major and all that.

Hmm from reading about this apparently they are the best to get at half length because their life span is about 1 year unlike the red wigglers who last many years also these guys can start breeding once they hit half size Razz also these guys are one of the best compost producers in the world heres the link from what im getting info from http://www.wormman.com/europeans.cfm

Your keeping them better then mine, I accidently forgot about oats for about a month and I still have a lot of mealworms. I'm now on Generation 3! I have counted 70+ and that isn't the small 3rd generation, which there is a lot of.

Eventually you should be at a point where there is always new beetles and new larvae being produced to replace those that die. That is where my Attagenus unicolor colony is at.

Cant wait for that only beacause I got people who need mealies for chickens and from what I remember from having chickens your looking at 5,000 worms every 2 weeks and I got 2 people who want that
