permits/licences

Post by ArachnidAlex on Tue Mar 10, 2015 9:51 am

looking for some links and info on what kind of permits/licence(s) we will need to start selling live food. I have been searching the net all morning but can't seem to get the right info scratch

we will start with insects until we get it right and then move to rodents and work our way up.

we are in Alberta, Canada.

Well that will depend upon a few factors:

-The Kind of Insects [Or later on Rodents and things]
-Where are you planning to ship them to [It really makes a difference because as far as i am aware you may need Permits to Ship Across From Canada to The USA]

I'm not an expert on all this since i've never shipped/sold any insects before. But here is something interesting about Canada:
It is illegal to ship or import ants from outside of Canada, and just to rub it in our faces you can't get the permits to do it anymore [i think it stopped in like the late 20th Century or something for "Giving Out Permits" ]

well to begin with it will all around our area, then expand to around Canada and then we will look into export.

I wonder why you can't import / export ants to/from Canada? I'm going to look into that.

It's mainly because they don't want them to invade here [even though most of the ant species couldn't survive our winters]

I bet Myrm will know more Very Happy Since he is an Ant Keeper and knows a ton more then I do Very Happy
