So far for me it is just Keeping my Attagenus unicolor Colony going, and getting my Mealworm Colony Going so I can start Experimenting with them a lot more. I also plan to do more Wasp and Ant things in the Spring/Summer of 2015.

Mine is to continue to progress with my two ant colonies, my mealies and, of course, my DERMESTIDS!!! Very Happy

I will probably try and raise a small roach colony too as food for my ants.

Can't go wrong with a bin full of roaches Smile My small colony of Dubia when I got them last week. I'll try and get a picture of them in their tub and post it in the roach section. My beardie is going to have a treat when he gets out of brumation.

Yeah it is sad, but that's nature, In the wild the odds are even worse for them.

Makes me wonder how many Queens from Captive Colonies would have actually survived and made their own colonies if no-one picked them up.

Yeah, Are the Queens the ones you see walking around on the ground Dermy/Myrm?

I saw loads this year, well nearly last year, when we had that really hot weather and you always get the local kids making a game out of stomping as many as they could.

Yes the really large ones. There is usually a season when species fly, usually July for Lasius niger, for Camponatus it can be as early as late May or as late as Late June. Lasius neoniger is usually the last major flight.

That is sad to hear Crying or Very sad because all of those queens that died potentially could have made some ant keeper [like you] really happy.

Great information Smile Thanks.

There's a colony of I think of rubra, (well I presume so, they were red, and aggressive) somewhere in my garden. When I was cutting down the rose bushes in the Summer I noticed some crawling on my shoes and gloves, some of them must of bit me me and brought me out in an awful stinging rash,

it is a shame sad I guess they don't know any better though.

I don't usually get rashes from the Myrmica Bites [unless I scratch then I get a little rash] I would start with Lasius niger first then maybe in a year if you still want something else, try a Myrmica rubra colony.
