How Was Your Season?

Post by dermy on Tue Nov 11, 2014 2:38 pm

How was your season?

Mine started out late as per usual, unfortunately I missed a lot of the ant flights of 2014 and only managed to save one colony [which as you may know I split recently into two colonies] and a few Formica queens [only 3 sad ]

As far as Dermestids go Zeoxy made a nice empire that hit 100-150+ at one point but slowly dwindled down to less then 20 now sad

The two Successes I've had this year where the Attagenus unicolor Colony, which I started from about 10-15 individuals and is now at the 200-250 mark! And my Mealworms, which I started 68 days ago and have 30 Beetles, 30 Pupae and about 200-300 babies [I will count them In a month to show how many I have]

All in all I'd give this a 7/10.

How was your Season? How would you rate it out of 10?

Interesting read, Dermy. I still think Zeoxy Dermestid was a success story. Smile

I wasn't in the country for the UK ant mating flights so I missed them, and I spent 6 months away from my ants. Luckily a friend fed them for me whilst I was away.

My two ant colonies have been successful despite their having less food than I'd normally give them.

This year was my first go at keeping Dermestids. I call my Dermestid colony, "The Cody Colony".

I'd also give my year a 7/10. Smile

I forgot about posting about my ants, they did well this year, not great but not bad.
