Yes and I only have about 150+ worms, imagine once I have 1lb [1000] worms! Then i'll never need to throw away any fruit or veggie matter!

Yep, they do require a bit more maintence then Dermestids, just with the watering thing but other then that I can just throw in frozen food with a bunch of bedding and let em at it!

Red Wigglers, you can't use normal Garden Worms as they won't work.

Mainly because Garden worms don't socialize like Red Wigglers. They can tolerate being around other worms, Garden worms can only tolerate a few individuals.

It's doing really well, most of the food waste has been consumed, now all I need to do is what till they finish off the bedding, which might take awhile, in the mean time I will be adding in more food wastes, without bedding. In a month I should be able to harvest some nice Vermicompost out of the system.

I will be trying to harvest some compost today, so that I can start a winter project early. I will post more about the winter project a little later.

Finally got around to semi-harvesting the Vermicompost. I have decided to add a bit to a planter and fill the rest with older soil:

Growing Potatoes in that.
Worms:

Vermicomposting System 2

I will share more pics of the other system [where all those worms went] soon.

Thanks there was still at least 100+ babies left in the second bin. The first bin has about 200+ in it. I will add adults to the first bin as I find them in the second bin, as it's not going to be used as a vermicomposting system.

I think you are an inspiration to many people for the dedication you show your varied critters. It's awesome following your progress with them. Smile

Thanks! I can't wait to start a Vermicomposting Over-Feeding Challenge in the winter, saving/freezing all my food scraps for it now.

I need to show a pic of the plants, they have grown large, and you couldn't see any plants in the last pic. I will get them tonight and share when I can.
